Very sad - lovely fellow and amazingly knowledgeable. Used to visit his little shop in Norwich regularly for kit, bait and a chat. Bought my first proper rod and real off him.

I met him twice, once at his shop, he sold me some shots. Second time was at his last book signing before he retired off to Thailand. I got to sit and chat with him for about 10 minutes over a beer. RIP John.
